The 2017 veterinary conference, the AAVA meeting, held in Auburn, Alabama from June 29 to July 1, was wonderful! The event kicked off with a well-attended embalming demonstration on Thursday, showcasing all the little tips one can learn when watching in real-time. Friday featured a wide array of interesting research topics, with presentations culminating in the remarkable story of the Blue Whale heart, along with poster viewing and a tour of Tuskegee’s veterinary complex. Saturday focused on various teaching topics, including anatomy presentations, discussions on cadaver sourcing, and an engaged audience during our business meeting. Graduate students excelled in their presentations throughout the program. I wish you all could have been there – but if you weren’t, most of the highlights were captured!
I am once again in awe at the excitement in anatomy that we all share, especially during the 2017 veterinary conference and the AAVA meeting. I am thankful to be a part of this great group and to enjoy the fascinating anatomy presentations together!
