I want to thank all who attended the AAVA meeting in Corvallis last week. It was a pleasure to host such a great group of anatomists.
I would like to thank the OSU anatomy group for their help and support with the organization and hosting of this meeting. Special thanks go to Kathy Magnusson, Karyn Bird, Karen Timm and Linda Blythe. A photo of the OSU anatomists is attached (including Hadi Mansouri and Jamie Sona who could not attend the meeting).

I would like to thank our guest speaker at the banquet, Dr. Erica McKenzie, for her entertaining and educational presentation on the Iditarod dog sled race. A big thank you also goes to Dr. Tim Miller-Morgan who gave a group of 20 a back-wing tour of OSU’s Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Thursday morning’s portion of the meeting was devoted to discussion of several teaching topics. I would like to acknowledge Dr. Christina Clarkson, Dr. Leslie Sprunger and Dr. Nong Inpanbutr for their leadership and contributions to these sessions. For the first teaching discussion, Economics and the future of veterinary anatomy instruction, attendees were divided into four groups and each group was given a topic to discuss. After small group discussion, the groups presented their discoveries to the entire group. For the second and third sessions, Assessment and retention of anatomical knowledge and Novel/innovative methods for teaching anatomy, each small group discussed the broad topic and then shared with the entire group. To close the morning, Dr. Nong Inpanbutr gave a presentation on the scholarship of teaching. Attached are notes from the teaching discussions. Dr. Inpanbutr’s presentation will be posted on the AAVA website soon. If you have anything else to add to the teaching discussions, please contribute.
Also attached are the AAVA president’s and financial reports (these were included in the proceedings of the annual meeting).
